Vietnam records 19 more local Covid cases

Vietnam recorded 19 new local Covid-19 cases Thursday evening, all having been contained within quarantine zones, according to the Ministry of Health.

10 of them were recorded in Da Nang, four in Bac Ninh, three in Vinh Phuc and one each in Hanoi and Bac Giang.

The 10 cases in Da Nang are close contacts of confirmed coronavirus cases from already identified hotspots. They are now being treated at the Hoa Vang District medical center.

The four cases in Bac Ninh are also close contacts of confirmed coronavirus cases from already identified hotspots. They are now being treated at the Bac Ninh General Hospital.

The three cases in Vinh Phuc are close contacts of confirmed coronavirus cases from identified hotspots as well. They are now being treated at a local field hospital.

The case in Hanoi is a 41-year-old woman who has been in close contact with coronavirus cases at an identified hotspot. She's being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The case in Bac Giang is a 29-year-old woman who's been associated with an outbreak at electrical appliance manufacturer SJ Tech company. She's being treated at a local field hospital.

With similar announcements made in the morning and around noon, the health ministry has confirmed 73 new local Covid cases on Thursday.

Vietnam's new Covid-19 wave has seen 684 community cases recorded in 26 cities and provinces since late last month.

Over 942,000, or 1 percent of the country's population, have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
