The Ministry of Health announces 188,440 Covid-19 cases on Friday, of which over 19,000 cases in Vinh Phuc recorded from previous days that were added to the national database on the day.

Hanoi still led the daily tally with 31,899 cases, followed by Vinh Phuc with 22,188 cases and Nghe An with 11,057.

71 deaths were confirmed on Friday, raising the death toll to 41,228, or 0.8 percent of the total number of infections.

In the latest wave that hit the country in late April, more than 5.4 million cases have been confirmed and 3 million of them have recovered.

The nation has administered over 199.2 million Covid-19 vaccine doses so far.
