Vietnam records 176,140 new Covid cases

Vietnam on Thursday recorded 118,780 new local Covid-19 cases, plus 57,360 additional cases reported in Hai Duong and Thai Binh on previous days.

The total infection tally in the fourth coronavirus wave since late April is now 3,806,309 cases.

The three localities with the highest number of new cases are Hai Duong with 31,720 cases, Thai Binh with 30,131 cases and Hanoi with 18,661 cases.

95 deaths were added to the national database on Thursday, with 20 deaths in Hanoi, seven in Hai Duong, six in Thanh Hoa, five each in Dak Lak, Dong Nai and Ha Giang, four each in Da Nang and Lam Dong, three each in Binh Dinh, Kien Giang and Quang Ninh, two each in HCMC, Binh Thuan, Can Tho, Cao Bang, Ha Nam, Ha Tinh, Lang Son, Ninh Binh, and Phu Tho, and one each in Binh Phuoc, Dak Nong, Dong Thap, Gia Lai, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Lao Cai, Phu Yen, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, Thai Nguyen and Tra Vinh

The total number of Covid-19 deaths so far is 40,550 cases, or 1 percent of all infections.

33,740 Covid-19 patients were announced recovered on Thursday, bringing the number of recovered cases to 2,550,525.

70.7 million adults have received their first Covid-19 vaccine shots, 67.4 million have received their second shots and 15.4 million have received their third shots.

8.6 million children aged 12-17 have received their first shots, while 8.1 million have received their second shots.
