Vietnam records 15,901 new Covid cases

The Health Ministry confirmed 15,901 new local Covid-19 cases Friday in 62 cities and provinces, pushing the ongoing wave's tally to 2,081,757.

The three localities with the highest number of new cases were Hanoi with 2,805 cases, Da Nang with 964 cases, and Hai Phong with 796 cases.

Vietnam has recorded 133 cases infected with the Omicron variant, including three community cases reported on Wednesday.

The Covid-19 death toll in Vietnam rose to 36,446 with the confirmation of 177 deaths Friday.

In the latest wave that hit the country last April, more than 2.08 million cases have been confirmed and over 1.79 million have recovered.

Over 73.6 million people of Vietnams 96 million population have been vaccinated with two doses, and more than 21.4 million have received the third dose.
