Vietnam records 146 new local Covid cases

Vietnam recorded 146 new local Covid-19 cases Monday noon, with over half of them in HCMC.

94 cases were recorded in HCMC, 32 in Binh Duong, 12 in Bac Giang, four in Bac Ninh, two in Nghe An and one each in Hoa Binh and Da Nang.

Of the cases in HCMC, 46 are close contact cases, 17 had been to District 5's An Dong market, nine to Tan Phu District's Son Ky market, nine to Cu Chi District's Tan Phu Trung industrial parks and six to Tan Binh District's Hoang Hoa Tham market, all existing outbreaks. Seven other cases are being contact traced.

The cases in Binh Duong have already been contained within quarantine zones and other locked down areas in Thuan An, Thu Dau Mot and Tan Uyen Towns and the Duc Tan residential area.

Two cases in Bac Giang are close contact cases, while the rest are contained within quarantine zones and locked down areas.

One case in Bac Ninh is being contact traced, while the rest are associated with existing outbreaks at industrial parks.

The cases in Nghe An are being contact traced.

Both cases in Hoa Binh and Da Nang are close contact cases.

Vietnam entered its fourth wave of Covid-19 community transmission on April 27 and since then, 12,547 infections have been registered in 48 cities and provinces. On Monday alone, 243 cases have been recorded.

Bac Giang still leads the infection count with 5,644 confirmed cases, followed by HCMC with 3,374.
