Vietnam records 131,709 new Covid cases

The Health Ministry confirmed 131,709 new local Covid-19 cases in 63 cities and provinces Monday, pushing the ongoing wave's tally to 8,010,180.

The three localities with the highest number of new cases were Hanoi with 17,916 cases, Nghe An with 5,403 cases, and Phu Tho with 5,348 cases.

Of the day's tally, 87,895 cases were detected in the community.

The Covid-19 death toll in Vietnam rose to 41,952 with the confirmation of 69 deaths Monday.

The Health Ministry also confirmed 179,640 recoveries the same day, bringing the total number of recovered cases so far to 4,282,668.

Over 76.6 million people of Vietnam's 96 million population have been vaccinated with two doses, and more than 45.8 million have received the third dose.
