Vietnam records 13,758 new local Covid cases

The Health Ministry confirmed 13,758 new local Covid-19 cases Monday, up 830 cases from the previous day, pushing the ongoing wave's tally to 1,217,973.

The three localities with the highest number of new cases were Ho Chi Minh City with 1,554 cases, Can Tho with 913 cases, and Binh Duong with 719 cases.

Of the day's tally, 7,601 cases were detected in the community.

Health authorities also confirmed 16,088 recoveries on Monday, bringing the total tally of recovered cases so far to 974,724.

The Covid-19 death toll in Vietnam rose to 25,055 with the confirmation of another 173 deaths.

The average daily number of new cases in the country for the past seven days has been 12,596, while the death rate has been 158 a day on average.

Over 71 million people have been vaccinated, with more than 49.7 million having received two doses.
