Vietnam records 13,271 new Covid-19 cases

The Health Ministry announced 13,271 new domestic Covid-19 patients Wednesday in 61 localities with plunging number of deaths.

Most of the new cases were detected in Hanoi at 1,039, followed by the northern localities of Vinh Phuc (518 cases) and Yen Bai (506 cases).

In the past 24 hours, seven Covid-19 patients have died, bringing the average single-day death toll in the last seven days to 15, down 37 percent from the previous seven-day period.

The death tally since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 42,982, or 0.4 percent of all infections.

In the latest wave that hit the country in late April, more than 10.4 million cases have been confirmed and 9 million of them have recovered.

So far, 80.2 percent of the population have received two vaccine doses.
