Vietnam records 119,992 new local Covid cases

Vietnam on Thursday recorded 119,992 new local Covid-19 cases, bringing the total infection tally in the fourth wave to 8,520,153 cases.

The three localities with the highest numbers of new cases are Hanoi with 12,485 cases, Dak Lak with 4,463 cases and Bac Ninh with 4,292 cases.

70 deaths were added to the national database on Thursday, with 10 cases in Dong Nai, six in Ca Mau, five each in Hanoi and Kien Giang, four each in Gia Lai and Phu Yen, three each in Ben Tre, Quang Binh, Quang Ninh and Vinh Long, two each in Cao Bang, Hau Giang and Khanh Hoa, and one each in An Giang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Bac Lieu, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Ha Giang, Ha Tinh, Lang Son, Nam Dinh, Phu Tho, Quang Ngai, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Tra Vinh and Yen Bai.

The total number of deaths so far is 42,145 cases, or 0.5 percent of all infections.

Vietnam has fully vaccinated 76.7 million people, accounting for around 80 percent of its population. 48 million people have received their third vaccine shots, accounting for around 50 percent of the population.
