Long An, neighboring Ho Chi Minh City, has decided to send Covid-19 patients and close contacts back to the office if they are willing.

The rule is applied for state agencies, businesses and production facilities.

However, patients and close contacts need to have permission from their superiors to return to work, according to a decision issued Wednesday by the provincial administration, as cited by Long An Province's news portal.

This has made Long An the first Vietnamese locality to remove the isolation rule applied for Covid-19 patients and close contacts.

On March 6, the Ministry of Health proposed having Covid-19 patients and close contacts go to work under certain conditions.

HCMC has assigned related agencies and departments to build plans following the ministry's suggestion.

According to the existing rule, Covid-19 patients are isolated for seven days while close contacts that have been fully vaccinated with two doses will be isolated for five.
