The Vietnamese government is considering new policies to support airlines in opening additional international flight routes to key tourist destinations across the country.

These measures are part of broader efforts to enhance the quality and professionalism of Vietnam's tourism sector in response to increasing global competition.

In a report submitted to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee, the government emphasized the need for a more integrated regional approach to tourism development. This includes the creation of joint tourism products and packages that span multiple localities.

The government also highlighted the importance of aligning tourism growth with green development and heritage conservation. To this end, authorities plan to collaborate with localities to establish safe, friendly, and civilized destinations. Expanding international flight routes is also considered a step in making these goals a reality.

Vietnam welcomed 12.5 million international visitors in 2023, surpassing the initial target of 8 million.
