Vietnam considers giving 4th Covid vaccine shots

Vietnam is looking into the possibility of giving its citizens their fourth Covid-19 vaccine shots, the government office said Wednesday.

The office, citing Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, said Vietnam has done research and listened to recommendations from the WHO regarding giving fourth Covid-19 vaccine shots to people.

Chinh also requested research institutions to look into the possibility of a fifth Covid-19 vaccine shot when necessary.

Vietnam aims to vaccinate everyone aged 12-18 within this month, while preparing to give children aged 5 and above their vaccine shots once they're available.

The country has given over 200 million vaccine shots, with most of the population aged 12 and above having been fully vaccinated with two shots.44.9 million people have received their Covid-19 vaccine shots.

Procedures to purchase Covid-19 vaccines for children aged 5-12 have been completed.
