Vietnam confirms one more imported Covid-19 case

A Vietnamese citizen returning from Russia has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, raising the nation’s Covid-19 tally to 1,054.

"Patient 1060" is a 21 year-old man from Ba Thuoc District, central Thanh Hoa Province. He arrived from Russia on September 8 and was quarantined on entry. Results of tests done at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi showed Friday that he was positive. He is being treated at the same hospital.

Vietnam also recorded nine recoveries Friday, taking total recoveries to 902. The nation’s Covid-19 death toll is 35.

The number of community transmissions confirmed in Vietnam so far is 691, in which 551 are linked to Da Nang City, epicenter of the second outbreak starting July 25.

Vietnam has gone through eight consecutive days without recording any community transmissions.

More than 35,000 people are quarantined - 600 in hospitals, 16,000 at centralized quarantine facilities and the rest at home.
