Vietnam confirms 9,839 new Covid-19 cases

Health authorities reported another 9,839 local Covid-19 cases Wednesday, down 411 from Tuesday.

HCMC led with 1,337 new cases, followed by the neighboring provinces of Dong Nai (664 cases) and Binh Duong (601 cases).

Another 67 deaths were confirmed, including 25 in HCMC and 12 in Binh Duong, raising the national death toll to 23,337, or 2.2 percent of total infections.

The fourth wave that hit Vietnam in late April has until now been responsible for over one million cases. Of them, 872,053 have recovered.

About 36.8 million people of the nation’s 96-million population have been fully vaccinated.
