Vietnam confirms 26 new imported Covid-19 cases

Vietnam confirmed 26 new imported Covid-19 cases Wednesday, taking the national tally to 1,252.

Twenty-five Vietnamese citizens returning from Romania, tagged 1,227 to 1,251, aged 23-50, landed at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Vietnam Airlines flight VN82 on November 8.

They are being treated at the city’s Cu Chi Field Hospital.

"Patient 1252" is an 18-year old woman from Da Nang City who also landed November 8 at the Da Nang International Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN311 from the U.S., transiting in Japan. She is being treated at the Da Nang Lung Hospital.

Two other passengers on the same flight have already tested Covid-19 positive.

The nation’s Covid-19 tally stands at 1,252, with 1091 recoveries, including four announced Wednesday, and 35 deaths.

The nation has recorded no community transmission of the novel coronavirus in 69 days.

The pandemic has claimed 1.2 million lives globally.
