Vietnam confirms 16,476 new Covid-19 cases

Vietnam reported 16,476 new Covid-19 cases Friday in 60 cities and provinces, with Hanoi leading the tally.

The Health Ministry said Hanoi had 1,914 new cases, followed by Vinh Long Province with 1,080 and Ca Mau Province with 885 cases.

The ministry also confirmed 226 deaths, including 34 in HCMC and 18 each in Dong Nai and An Giang, raising the national Covid -19 death toll to 32,394 or 1.9 percent of total infections.

The fourth wave that hit Vietnam late April has seen over 1.72 million Covid cases to date and more than 1.35 million recoveries.

Over 68.4 million people of Vietnam's 96 million population have been vaccinated with two doses, and more than 4.9 million have received the third dose.
