Vietnam confirms 15,203 more local Covid-19 cases

The Health Ministry announced nother 15,203 domestic Covid-19 patients in 62 provinces and cities on Tuesday.

The locality with the highest number of new cases was Ca Mau Province with 1,011 cases, marking the highest daily cases ever recorded in the Mekong Delta locality. Ho Chi Minh City came second with 991 cases and Tay Ninh Province that borders the city third with 931 cases.

Hanoi recorded 837 new cases.

The Covid-19 death toll in Vietnam rose to 28,333 with the confirmation of 252 deaths on Tuesday, including 64 in HCMC. Vietnam's Covid deaths are accounting for 2 percent of the total infections since the pandemic began.

In the ongoing wave that hit Vietnam in late April, more than 1.43 million cases have been recorded, and more than one million have recovered.

To date, 58.6 million people of the nation's 96-million population have been fully vaccinated.
