Vietnam confirms 130 new local Covid cases

The Ministry of Health announced 130 more Covid-19 community transmissions in Vietnam, raising the ongoing coronavirus wave's tally to 9,850.

Of the new cases, 34 cases were recorded in HCMC, 53 in Bac Giang, 18 in Da Nang, 13 in Binh Duong, 9 in Bac Ninh, one each in Ha Tinh, Quang Nam and An Giang.

In HCMC, 28 of the new cases were detected in lockdown areas, three cases are related to the cluster at the Revival Ekklesia Mission in Go Vap District, the rest are being contact traced.

In Binh Duong, the new patients include five quarantined cases, eight other cases are related to current outbreaks at two local companies.

Five new cases in central Da Nang City are those coming into close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 patient, 13 were detected in locked down areas.

In Ha Tinh and Quang Nam, the new patients, a three-year-old boy and a 31-year-old woman respectively, have been quarantined.

All the cases in the northern province of Bac Giang are associated with existing outbreaks at local industrial parks. Nine patients in its neighbor Bac Ninh are also linked to local outbreaks.

Since the new wave started on April 27, community infections have been recorded in 41 cities and provinces, with Bac Giang and HCMC accounting for the highest cases, at 5,383 and 1,561 respectively, followed closely by Bac Ninh with 1,522.

Twenty two localities have not detected any new cases in 14 days. Eight others have not had any new patients in 30 days.
