Vietnam confirms 127,878 new Covid-19 cases

The Health Ministry announced 127,878 new domestic Covid-19 patients Wednesday in 62 cities and provinces.

Most of the new cases were detected in the northern province of Tuyen Quang, at 15,810, including over 13,000 cases in the past that are now added to the national database.

It was followed by Hanoi with 13,005 cases and the northern province of Phu Tho with 5,307 cases.

In the past 24 hours, 61 Covid-19 patients have died, including four in Hanoi.

Since the pandemic started last year, the death toll in Vietnam has climbed to 42,075 or 0.5 percent of all infections.

In the latest wave that hit the country in late April, more than 8.4 million cases have been confirmed and over 4.6 million them have recovered.

So far, 79.5 percent of the population have received two vaccine doses.
