Vietnam confirms 12 new Covid-19 cases

Vietnam confirmed 12 new imported Covid-19 cases Wednesday, taking the national tally to 1,300.

"Patient 1289," a 21-year old man from Hanoi’s Phuc Tho District, and "Patient 1290," a 41-year old woman from Thai Binh Province’s Hung Ha District landed November 11 at the Cam Ranh International Airport in central Khanh Hoa Province on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062 from Russia.

After being confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus, they are being treated at the Cam Ranh General Hospital in Khanh Hoa.

Six of the new patients, numbered 1291- 1296, aged 19-42, landed November 8 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Vietnam Airlines flight VN82 from Germany, transiting through Romania. They are being treated at the city’s Cu Chi Field Hospital.

The remaining four patients, numbered 1297-1300, aged 16-46, landed November 16 at the Van Don International Airport in northern Quang Ninh Province on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5028 from Canada.

They are being treated at the Hai Duong Hospital for Tropical Diseases in the eponymous province.

Of Vietnam’s current Covid-19 tally of 1,300, 1,124 have recovered and 35 have died. Vietnam has gone 76 days without a community transmission.

The Covid-19 pandemic has claimed 1.3 million lives worldwide.
