Vietnam adds 9,323 cases to Covid-19 tally

The Health Ministry announced 4,183 new Covid-19 patients Monday night, raising the day's tally to 9,323.

Ho Chi Minh City, the epicenter of the ongoing fourth coronavirus wave, recorded 3,991 cases. It was followed by the southern provinces of Binh Duong with 2,887 cases and Dong Nai with 538. The remaining cases were recorded in 27 other provinces and cities.

Among Monday's tally, 1,556 were detected in the community and the rest in quarantine zones and areas under lockdown.

The health ministry also confirmed 4,423 discharges the same day, raising the number of recoveries since the pandemic began to 75,920.

Another 360 deaths in four localities, including 269 in HCMC, raising the fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 3,757, including 3,722 in the fourth wave.

Since the new Covid-19 wave emerged in Vietnam in late April, 215,762 infections have been recorded in 62 of its 63 cities and provinces.

The country has vaccinated more than 9.4 million people, including 945,896 who have received two shots.
