The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has banned two men from flying for nine months for smoking on a plane.

The men from Hai Duong and Dong Thap provinces cannot fly until September 30 next year.

The agency also said a person from the southern province of Kien Giang has been banned from flying for 12 months and would be visually checked during security procedures for six months after that for using the boarding pass and ID card of another person while trying to board a plane.

Smoking on a plane, including e-cigarettes, would result in a fine of VND3-5 million ($127-212) and possible bans of up to 12 months.
