Several women in northern Thai Binh Province were fined up to VND200,000 ($7.85) each for doing yoga in the middle of a main road.

The traffic police department on Sunday said the Kien Xuong Town People’s Committee had fined 14 people for illegally gathering, lying and sitting in the road and impeding traffic.

At around 4:30 a.m. on May 17, a total of 17 people went to the Tran Hung Dao-Nguyen Cong Thu intersection and did yoga in the middle of the street. They said they did so to take photos and commemorate the "season when the Queen’s Flowers bloom."

They continued doing yoga throughout the morning.

Among the group, three were underage and let off with a warning.

Kien Xuong authorities have told people not to illegally occupy roads and sidewalks, and affect traffic safety.
