A woman drove a car on Nguyen Van Troi Street towards the Bai Truoc beach at around 9:45 p.m. when the vehicle hit the motorbikes which were waiting at the traffic lights.
After dragging two people with it, the car only stopped when it rammed into a streetlamp on Le Quy Don Street.

A witness said there were loud noises of people screaming, and that two people were lying near the pavements, and several others fell onto the ground nearby.
"It was chaotic. I only managed to give first-aid to a boy around 14 years of age, and a woman who nearly had her leg cut off," the witness said, adding that the car had previously hit an environmental worker first.
At the scene, a broken motorbike could be seen in the middle of the road, with several debris nearby. The car involved in the accident was located some dozens of meters away. Two people died in the incident and three people were sent to hospital with heavy injuries.
The police have barricaded the area and taken the driver into custody.
