An Eva Air Boeing 777 plane suffered a damaged wing at HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat Airport after accidentally taxiing into a parking bay and hitting a light pole.

The accident took place at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday when flight BR396 was taxiing to the runway for takeoff to Taipei in Taiwan and the pilot mistakenly steered into a parking bay.

The collision caused the pole to collapse and dented the aircraft’s left wing.

According to airport authorities, at the time the runway, signals, signage, and weather conditions were optimal.

The incident did not affect the airport’s operations, and the passengers on the plane were all safe.

The plane has been grounded for repairs.

Authorities have reported to the appropriate agencies and the cause is being investigated.

Planes taxiing from the parking lot to the runway follow a specific route under the guidance of airport personnel.
