Steel coil falls out of truck in Hanoi, hits car

The accident took place at 10:45 p.m. on Monday as the tractor was about to move from Pham Hung Street to Thang Long Boulevard.

Three steel coils fell off the truck and one of them rolled over a car behind, damaging the front of the car.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Both drivers of the truck and the car tested negative for drugs and alcohol, police said.

Steel coils falling off trucks is not a rare occurrence in Vietnam since there are no mandatory requirements related to securing them while being transported.

Also, there are no restrictions on when and where tractor-trailers can carry such coils.

Many drivers say they come up with their own ways to secure coils based on their experience and discussions with other drivers.
