A Singaporean college student died in a motorbike accident while on holiday in Malaysia early Tuesday, according to local authorities.

Muhammad Razif Harun, 21, was traveling along the North-South Expressway in Negeri Sembilan at around 4 a.m. when he reportedly lost control of his motorbike and crashed into roadside barricades, The Strait Times reported.

He suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Nur Zuliati Razali, Rembau acting police chief, as reported by The Star.

Razif had been on holiday in Kuala Lumpur at the time of the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that while weather conditions were favorable, certain sections of the expressway were poorly lit.

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
