Travel between Singapore and Vietnam is set to get a major boost with a new partnership between Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Vietnam Airlines, aimed at offering passengers more flexibility and connectivity across key cities.

Starting Oct. 26, the two carriers will begin code-sharing on multiple routes. SIA will place its flight code on Vietnam Airlines-operated services linking Singapore with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, while Vietnam Airlines will add its code to SIA-operated flights connecting Singapore with Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.

The first batch of tickets will be released for sale beginning Oct. 10 through the airlines' websites, mobile apps and travel agents.

Executives from both carriers said the agreement will not only give travelers more seamless options but also strengthen economic and tourism ties between the two countries.

The collaboration leverages the extensive route networks and premium services of both airlines to offer greater connectivity and flexibility for passengers, said Nguyen Quang Trung, Vietnam Airlines' director of corporate planning and development, The Straits Times reported.

SIA's senior vice president of marketing planning Dai Haoyu added that the deal would "support economic growth and tourism in our countries, and deepen the longstanding ties between Singapore and Vietnam," the Economic Times reported.

Both airlines are also exploring the possibility of expanding the partnership to cover additional destinations in their networks in the future.
