The Ben Thanh Traffic Police Team announced on Monday that riding a motorbike without holding the handlebars poses a serious risk of traffic accidents.

Police are also working with the vehicle's owner to issue a separate citation for handing it over to a person below the legal driving age of 18.
Earlier, a video circulating on social media showed the teenager riding the SH motorbike with two other passengers across Ba Son Bridge, traveling from the Thu Thiem urban area towards Ton Duc Thang Street in the city downtown. Over a stretch of more than 10 m, the rider released both hands from the handlebars and stretched her arms out to the sides.
During questioning, the girl admitted to the violation, telling police that she had been taking two female friends out and lost control of her behavior.
HCMC traffic police said they are continuing to verify the case and have summoned another young man who allegedly committed a similar violation on Ba Son Bridge to be dealt with in accordance with regulations.
