A camera footage showed the incident occurred on March 8 as the car was parked along the roadside of Phan Dinh Phung Street. Without checking for oncoming traffic, an occupant of the vehicle opened the door, hitting the passing motorcyclist. The impact caused the rider to fall directly toward an approaching car.
Fortunately, no serious collision occurred, and the motorcyclist was able to stand and walk away unharmed.
Under Vietnamese law, opening car doors without ensuring safety can result in fines of up to VND6 million ($235). If such an action leads to a traffic accident, fines can rise to VND22 million.
