Police imposed administrative sanctions on Truong Van Truong, 46, from Binh Thuan Province, on Sunday.
During police questioning, Truong explained that on the morning of the incident on Saturday, he was traveling from central Binh Thuan Province towards southern Dong Nai Province.
Upon reaching an intersection with another expressway in Dong Nai, he missed his exit by around 200 meters. He then turned on his headlights and drove back in the opposite direction at high speed. The incident was recorded by another vehicle's dashcam.
His behavior is also subjected to a fine of VND18-20 million (US$703-780), police said, without revealing the specific figure.

The Dau Giay–Phan Thiet Expressway spans 99 km, connecting Dong Nai and Binh Thuan provinces.
With an investment of over VND12.5 trillion ($535 million), the expressway has been operational since April 2023, reducing the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet beach town in Binh Thuan by three hours.
