Man arrested for assaulting motorcyclist after minor collision in HCMC

A 40-year-old man has been arrested by police in Ho Chi Minh City's District 4 for repeatedly assaulting another motorcyclist following a traffic collision that hurt no one.

The man, identified as Bui Thanh Khoa, was put under investigation on Tuesday for charges of deliberately causing injuries.

Khoa was caught on camera attacking the other driver after their motorcycles collided while traveling in the same direction on Khanh Hoi Street in the district at around 7 a.m. on Monday morning.

The entire incident of a minor collision and the following assault as captured on a car's dash cam.

The collision caused no injuries or damage to either party, but Khoa stopped in the middle of the road and began punching the other motorcyclist multiple times in the face.

The victim, who has been identified as a 23-year-old woman and not a man as previously reported, fell backward onto the road. Khoa continued his assault, delivering a forceful kick to the young woman's face, causing her helmet to fly off.

Khoa attempted to strike again but stopped when a minivan driver traveling in the opposite direction shouted at him. Khoa then fled the scene.

The entire incident, lasting about a minute, was captured on the dashcam of a vehicle traveling behind.

Later that day, police tracked Khoa to his residence on Duong Cat Loi Street, Nha Be District, and brought him in for questioning.

Khoa admitted to the assault during the interrogation.

Authorities have also recorded the victim’s testimony and arranged a medical examination to determine the extent of her injuries. This evidence will be used to pursue legal action against Khoa.
