A man was arrested in Lam Dong Province's Bao Loc City on Sunday night for causing the deaths of two teenagers while driving under the influence.

Mai Xuan Vinh, 40, was taken into custody by Bao Loc police following the fatal accident, which occurred in the afternoon the same day in the Central Highlands town. Authorities reported that Vinh's seven-seat vehicle collided head-on with a motorbike traveling in the opposite direction.

The crash claimed the lives of Pham Quang Dat, 18 and Nguyen Hai Dang, 17, both of whom died at the scene. Both the car and motorbike sustained significant damage.

Police revealed that Vinh did not possess a valid driver's license, and his alcohol level was recorded at 0.9 mg/l. At the time of the accident, Vinh's car had veered into the wrong lane.

This was not Vinh's first offense. In March, he was fined VND46 million ($1,849) also for driving under the influence.
