The consortium consists of two members, led by the Incheon International Airport Corporation of South Korea and the PMI Consulting Services JSC of Vietnam, state-owned Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the airport's investor, announced Friday.

According to ACV, the global civil aviation industry is undergoing significant changes, with trends like smart airports integrating biometric technology, artificial intelligence (AI), green airports, and CO2 emissions reduction. These factors contribute to increased competition among international airports.
Long Thanh will be a large-scale airport with many modern and advanced technological systems applied in its investment and construction. The management and operation of the airport will play a crucial role in determining the effectiveness and ensuring the investment goals of the project, it said.
Long Thanh Airport is currently on track to finish its first phase on schedule, welcome its first commercial flight in September 2026.

Over 8,000 workers and machines are working on the site around the clock.
The first phase comprises four major packages: the passenger terminal, the runway, two connecting road routes and the air traffic control tower. Long Thanh is set to have a capacity of 25 million passengers and over one million tons of cargo per year in the first phase.
Covering 5,000 hectares in Long Thanh District of Dong Nai Province that neighbors Ho Chi Minh City, the airport will replace HCMC's Tan Son Nhat as the country's biggest airport once completed.
