HCMC will prohibit vehicles on five downtown streets Thursday and Friday mornings to facilitate fire and rescue drills at the mPlaza Saigon skyscraper.

The ban will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on sections of Hai Ba Trung, Cong Xa Paris, Le Van Huu, Le Duan and Nguyen Van Chiem streets in District 1, as announced by the Department of Transport.

People are advised to use alternative routes, including Nguyen Thi Minh Khai–Mac Dinh Chi–Nguyen Du–Hai Ba Trung or Hai Ba Trung–Nguyen Du–Pasteur–Nguyen Thi Minh Khai–Hai Ba Trung.

Located at the intersection of Le Duan and Hai Ba Trung streets, the mPlaza Saigon skyscraper houses offices, apartments, hotels, and commercial spaces. It is one of the most prominent buildings in the area.

Approximately 2,600 people and 100 vehicles will participate in the fire drill.
