Car crashes into multiple motorbikes, hitting foreign pedestrian in Vung Tau

A car plowed into five parked motorbikes before striking and injuring a foreign pedestrian on a sidewalk in Vung Tau beach town in southern Vietnam on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Truong Cong Dinh Street near Bai Truoc, or Front Beach. A man in his 30s was driving a five-seater car when, upon reaching a restaurant on the street, the vehicle suddenly veered onto the sidewalk.

The car first crashed into five motorbikes parked in front of the restaurant. A foreign man, who was walking on the sidewalk toward the beach, saw the car approaching and jumped onto the road to avoid it, but was still struck and thrown a short distance.

The car came to a stop several meters away, outside a convenience store.

Witnesses said the car driver was also a foreigner, who later drove the foreign pedestrian to hospital to treat minor injuries.

The car was damaged, with a crushed front end and a burst tire, while all five motorbikes were knocked over and sustained damage as well.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by local authorities.
