Cathay Pacific has apologized after a 3-year-old boy in business class was accidentally served a glass of white wine during a flight from Hong Kong to London.

According to The Straits Times, the child, traveling with his parents on April 24, took a sip of the drink and told them it tasted "sour." His mother, identified as Wong, said they quickly realized he had been given alcohol and alerted a flight attendant. The staff apologized and replaced the drink with water.

Wong later shared the incident on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, expressing concern over possible long-term health effects from her child's accidental alcohol consumption. She also stated she would take him for a medical evaluation.

In response, Cathay Pacific offered a formal apology and refunded the boy's ticket. The airline also offered upgrade vouchers and agreed to cover any medical check-up expenses. However, Wong said the airline failed to provide a full explanation of how the mix-up occurred or how similar incidents would be prevented in the future.

According to the South China Morning Post, Cathay Pacific said it had conducted additional coaching for crew members on verifying drink orders and launched an internal review to strengthen service procedures and ensure proper follow-up measures.
