Five bombs weighing over a ton in total along with other explosive materials produced by the U.S. were disposed of in the central Quang Ngai Province.

The military headquarters of Binh Son District and military engineers of the Quang Ngai military headquarters on Wednesday disposed of the five bombs at a drill ground.

Pham Quoc Vien, a military engineer from the Quang Ngai military headquarters, said the bombs were produced by the U.S., each being 160 cm long weighing around 226 kg. The bombs were discovered by locals in Binh Son District and then handed over to authorities.

Around 20% of the natural land area in Quang Ngai is infested with over 17,500 tons of mines and bombs. Since 1975, the end of the Vietnam War, around 2,300 people in the province have had accidents related to these mines and bombs.
