Three people were killed in a fire at a convenience store in the Mekong Delta's Dong Thap Province Friday morning.

At around 12:30 a.m., flames began to engulf the Bay Tien convenience store in An Khanh Commune, owned by 33-year-old Bui Thi Yen Suong. There were six people inside the store at the time.

Locals tried to put out the fire to no avail. Police of Chau Thanh District then cooperated with firefighters to combat the flames. The fire was put under control in about two hours.

The three victims: Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Ngo Van Lam and Hoang Tuan Anh, all from Ho Chi Minh City, were killed in the fire.
