A Vietnamese mother and her children returning from France have taken Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally to 1,256, the Ministry of Health confirmed Friday afternoon.

Patients 1254-1256, a 35-year-old woman, her 10-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter, are residents of Hanoi's Thanh Xuan District. They landed at HCMC's Tan Son Nhat International Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5010 on November 11. They were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus the very next day, and are being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital in HCMC.

With the recovery of eight people also announced Friday, total recoveries have gone up to 1,101.

Among the 117 active cases, 18, 10 and 11 have tested negative for the novel coronavirus once, twice and three times, respectively.

Vietnam's Covid-19 death toll remains at 35, many of the dead elderly patients with underlying conditions like diabetes and kidney failure.

No community transmission of the virus has been recorded in the country for more than two months.

Internationally, the pandemic has infected more than 50 million and killed more than 1.2 million people.
