Duong Minh Hai told a driver in a 123 taxi Thursday morning to move out of the road on the third floor of the airport for allegedly staying on for more time than allowed.
Before he drove away, the irate driver pulled out a screwdriver and lunged at Hai, hitting his elbow and causing it to bleed.
Hai was taken to a hospital and is in stable health now.
Police are investigating the incident.
So far this year at least four taxi and ride-hailing car drivers have verbally or physically abused airport staff on being asked to follow regulations.
