Support Hope Foundation in replacing temporary bridges in Mekong Delta

With support from the community, Hope Foundation aims to complete 200 concrete bridges to replace temporary and degraded bridges in southern Vietnam.

Deep in the rural communes and remote areas of the Mekong Delta, makeshift bridges - crafted from wooden planks, metal, and bamboo - are a common sight. Over time, exposure to sun and rain weakens these structures, making them uneven, slippery, and hazardous to cross.

Even concrete bridges have severely deteriorated despite being renovated multiple times, due to the high volume of traffic. This situation complicates the transportation of agricultural products, as well as renders the road to school unsafe for students during rainy seasons.

Launched in 2018, "The Road to School" program by Hope Foundation has gradually replaced temporary bridges, wooden bridges, and old, degraded bridges with reinforced concrete ones.

These bridges not only ensure smooth trade connections, shortening travel distances between communes and hamlets, making it easier for students and residents to commute, but they also give rural areas in the Mekong Delta provinces a new look.

Over the past seven years, the program has built and inaugurated more than 430 bridges across An Giang, Dong Thap, and Can Tho, with a goal of reaching 600 bridges by 2027.

In 2025, the program aims to construct 80 new Hope Bridges, made possible through the collective efforts of local authorities, residents, and community contributions.
