On Friday afternoon, two men drove a motorbike to the bank on Pham The Hien Street. They posed as normal customers to enter the bank.
Camera footage showed a man who wore a hat, face mask and a dark coat used an unidentified gun to threaten bank staff and security guards, demanding money.
But a bank representative said the would-be thieves weren’t able to get past security systems to access any asset and the left empty handed.
"The two bandits didn’t rob anything and both quickly escaped from the scene," said the representative.
In the security video footage, the man holding the gun retreated, opened the door and ran into the street. His accomplice, who was dressed in white, followed. Both escaped on their motorbike.
Police officers blockaded the bank and took testimony from bank staff and security guards to investigate the robbery.
