Stepan Polishchuk, 30, was driving on Le Hong Phong Street when the truck carrying construction materials hit him, Giao Thong, the news website of the National Traffic Safety Committee, reported.
He fell on the road and died. Eyewitnesses said after the accident the truck traveled more than 100 meters before coming to a halt.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Nha Trang, a famous beach town in Khanh Hoa Province, is popular with Russians.
Several foreigners, most of them on motorbikes, have been killed or injured recently in road accidents involving trucks.
Last month a Mexican woman died after her motorbike was hit by a container truck in the northern province of Hoa Binh, while a month earlier a South African man crashed into a truck and died in Ho Chi Minh City.
Road crashes are a leading cause of death in Vietnam, killing an average of 17 people every day this year.
