A Russian man is suspected to have joined a local man in Nha Trang to kill another over debts in 2019.

Aleksandr Vladimirovich had already returned to Russia in 2019 but is now determined a suspect in the murder of 36-year-old Ho Quoc Bao, police in the central coastal province said Wednesday.

Police came to the conclusion after questioning his alleged accomplice Bui Cao Son, 28, who was arrested recently in a different case for theft.

In 2019, Son called Bao to an apartment in Nha Trang to discuss debts Bao owed Son. As Bao failed to produce the money, Son and Vladimirovich beat him to death, an investigation revealed.

Son and Vladimirovich then put Bao's body into a suitcase, covered it with clothes and drapes, then disposed of it in a mountainous area.

On March 27, 2020, locals found the suitcase hidden inside a bush about 10 meters from the street and reported it to police.

An investigation has been ongoing ever since.
