Vietnam confirmed 10 new imported Covid-19 cases from Russia and France Thursday afternoon, taking the nation’s active case count to 127.

Three men and five women aged 24-35, numbered 1322 to 1329, had landed November 11 at the Cam Ranh Airport in the central province of Khanh Hoa on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062 from Russia.

Quarantined on arrival, their samples tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday. They are being treated at the Cu Chi field hospital in HCMC. Sixteen others on the same flight have already been confirmed patients and are being treated in Khanh Hoa.

Patients 1330 and 1331, two men aged 22 and 23, had landed November 11 at HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5010 from France. They also tested positive on Wednesday, and are being treated at HCMC’s Cu Chi field hospital.

Four others on the same flight are already under treatment in HCMC and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 1,331 cases with 1,166 recoveries and 35 deaths. Thirteen recoveries were announced Thursday. Many of the deaths were of elderly people with underlying conditions like diabetes and kidney failure. Three people who died after they were declared free of the virus have not been counted in the list of Covid-19 recoveries or deaths.

Of the 127 active cases, 34 have tested negative at least once. Over 16,000 are in quarantine nationally.

Vietnam has not recorded any community transmission of the novel coronavirus for nearly three months.
