A Buddhist requiem has been scheduled for Nov. 18 at a pagoda in HCMC’s District 10 to commemorate those who have succumbed to Covid-19.

The event will take place at Vietnam Quoc Tu (National Pagoda of Vietnam), Venerable Thich Quang Chon, deputy head of the ceremonies department under the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha, said Friday.

The sangha will work with local authorities to decide the scale of the event depending on the actual pandemic situation in the city.

By Friday, Vietnam had recorded more than 22,300 Covid-19 deaths, with over 16,600 in HCMC.

Most of the victims had lost their lives during the latest Covid-19 wave that broke out in late April.
