A rare 40-kilogram sea turtle has been rescued by police as it was being prepped for the pot at a food stall in Soc Trang province.

The turtle had got stranded on the shore of the southern province, and the fishermen who found it were unaware that it was a rare species so they took it to the food stall to be cooked.
