People traveling between HCMC and neighboring Dong Nai Province for business can now commute via private car in compliance with Covid-19 prevention measures.

As regulated, passengers must have got at least one shot of a Covid-19 vaccine for more than 14 days or recovered from the disease within the past six months aside from showing a negative test result within seven days.

Duong Manh Hung, deputy director of Dong Nai Transport Department, said only experts and laborers are allowed to travel between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City via private car.

HCMC, epicenter of Vietnam's latest outbreak, had previously asked its neighboring provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An and Tay Ninh for feedback on a plan for experts and laborers to move between the city and these localities now that the outbreak has basically been put under control.

Binh Duong, Long An and Tay Ninh have given the green light, allowing people to travel back and forth between each province and HCMC via both private car and motorbike, as long as they fulfill certain requirements on Covid-19 control and prevention.
