Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam will pay an official visit to Malaysia and attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and related events there from May 24-28.

The visit is made at the invitation of Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife.

Vietnam and Malaysia established diplomatic relations in 1973.

This is the PM's first visit to Malaysia since the two countries upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2024.

Malaysia is currently Vietnam's second largest trading partner in ASEAN and 11th in the world, while Vietnam is Malaysia's third largest trading partner in ASEAN.

In 2024, bilateral trade turnover reached more than US$14.2 billion, an increase of more than 12% compared to 2023.

Malaysia is the second largest investor in ASEAN in Vietnam and ranks 11th out of 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
